Incident à Ottawa ayant entraîné une blessure grave : l’UES lance un appel à témoins

L’Unité des enquêtes spéciales de l’Ontario souhaite communiquer avec toute personne qui aurait été témoin des circonstances dans lesquelles un homme de 32 ans a subi une blessure grave le mois dernier à Ottawa. 

Selon les renseignements préliminaires, le vendredi 29 juin 2018, vers 14 h 30, des agents du Service de police d’Ottawa (SPO) ont répondu à un appel pour ivresse dans un lieu public dans un immeuble de la rue Murray, à Ottawa. Il y a eu une interaction entre l’homme et les agents du SPO. L’homme a été conduit à l’hôpital pour le traitement d’une blessure grave. 

L’UES exhorte toute personne qui pourrait avoir des renseignements pertinents pour cette enquête à communiquer avec l’enquêteur principal au 1 800 787-8529, poste 2293. L’Unité demande également à quiconque en possession d’une vidéo en rapport avec cet incident de bien vouloir la télécharger via le site Web de l’UES.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials (police officers as well as special constables with the Niagara Parks Commission and peace officers with the Legislative Protective Service) that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person. All investigations are conducted by SIU investigators who are civilians. Under the Special Investigations Unit Act, the Director of the SIU must

  • consider whether the official has committed a criminal offence in connection with the incident under investigation
  • depending on the evidence, cause a criminal charge to be laid against the official where grounds exist for doing so, or close the file without any charges being laid
  • publicly report the results of its investigations
