Mississauga, ON (10 August, 2018) ---
The Acting Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Joseph Martino, has terminated an investigation into an incident that occurred last month in North Bay.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. on July 16, 2018, the 25-year-old man was arrested in the area of Regina Street and McGaughney Avenue in North Bay for a reported domestic matter.  Later that morning, as the man was being transported to court, he complained of pain in his right foot.  Following his court appearance, the man was taken to hospital for examination.

Acting Director Martino said, “The medical records do not indicate that the man suffered a serious injury. Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident.”

All investigations are conducted by SIU investigators who are civilians. Under the Special Investigations Unit Act, the Director of the SIU must
