SIU Terminates Investigation into Woman’s Fall from Roof of Ambulance Garage in Peterborough
- Le 4 février 2020, vers 11 h 45, des agents du Service de police de Peterborough (SPP) se sont rendus sur le pont de la rue Hunter en réponse à un appel signalant la présence d’une femme en détresse à cet endroit. Les agents ont conduit la femme à l’hôpital.
- Vers 14 h, le SPP a été avisé qu’une femme était debout sur le toit du garage des ambulances du Centre régional de santé de Peterborough.
- Des agents ont été envoyés sur les lieux et ont tenté de communiquer avec la femme, qui a été identifiée comme étant la personne sur le pont plus tôt dans la journée. Peu après, la femme a fait une chute depuis le toit jusqu’au sol.
- Elle a été amenée à l’hôpital pour le traitement d’une blessure grave.

The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of officials (police officers as well as special constables with the Niagara Parks Commission and peace officers with the Legislative Protective Service) that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person. All investigations are conducted by SIU investigators who are civilians. Under the Special Investigations Unit Act, the Director of the SIU must
- consider whether the official has committed a criminal offence in connection with the incident under investigation
- depending on the evidence, cause a criminal charge to be laid against the official where grounds exist for doing so, or close the file without any charges being laid
- publicly report the results of its investigations
