Mississauga, ON (20 novembre 2017) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the injuries sustained by a 44-year-old man last week in Sudbury.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • At approximately 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, Sudbury Police Service officers approached a vehicle that was parked behind a store on Marcus Drive. A man was inside the vehicle.
  • Upon seeing the officers, the man began to drive away and shortly after struck a shed.
  • When the man fled on foot, a police officer gave chase and caught up to the man. There was an interaction, and the man was arrested.
  • He was transported to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury.

Two investigators have been assigned to this incident. At this time, one subject officer and four witness officers have been designated.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
