SIU Terminates Guelph Death Investigation

Numéro du dossier: 18-OOD-201

Mississauga, ON (7 septembre 2018) ---
The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Tony Loparco, has terminated the investigation into the July 2018 death of a 28-year-old man in Guelph.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on July 5, 2018, a City of Guelph security officer located an unresponsive man inside a washroom of the Guelph Railway Station. The security officer requested that police officers attend. Within minutes, two Guelph Police Service officers arrived and they began to perform CPR on the man. One of the officers administered Narcan nasal spray. When paramedics arrived, they took over treatment of the man and transported him to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Director Loparco said, “The evidence is clear that none of the involved officers contributed to the man’s death in any way. Accordingly, I have terminated the investigation into this incident.”
