SIU Concludes Investigation into Oxford Station Collision that Injured Child

Case Number: 25-PVI-188

Mississauga, ON (4 September, 2025) ---
In the morning of May 9, 2025, an OPP officer was working from her home located in Oxford Station when she decided to reposition vehicles in her driveway. The officer stepped into a Jeep Cherokee and drove it forward a short distance when she travelled over a small bump and stopped the car. She opened her door and observed a 15-month-old child on the ground. The officer’s residence housed a daycare operated by her partner, and the boy was at the daycare that morning.  He and other children had been in a play area off the driveway prior to the collision. First aid was rendered, and the child was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with three skull fractures. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the collision.
