No Charges to Issue in Relation to Mississauga Collision Between Vehicle and Teenager Fleeing from Police Officer

Case Number: 25-OCI-285

Mississauga, ON (6 November, 2025) ---
In the early morning of July 20, 2025, Peel Regional Police officers attended a restaurant and bar on Lakeshore Road East in Mississauga to investigate a report of the door person being assaulted by two individuals. A witness at the scene described what had occurred and identified the two individuals inside another nearby restaurant. One of the persons of interest – a 16-year-old male – exited the shop. The officer called out to the teenager. The teenager immediately fled on foot. When he entered onto the curb lane of traffic, he was struck by a westbound SUV. The officer, who was within a metre or two of the teenager when the collision occurred, immediately called for an ambulance and checked on the teen. The teen was transported to hospital and reportedly diagnosed with a broken left leg and an unspecified head injury. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the injuries.
