Mississauga, ON (15 June, 2026) ---
The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a 12-year-old boy, driving a stolen car, was shot at by a Toronto Police Service officer early this morning.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • At approximately 1:30 a.m., police were called about a stolen car.
  • Officers in cruisers located the driver and attempted to block the car on Leaside Bridge. The driver attempted to flee and contact was made between the stolen car and an officer. In the course of the interaction, the officer shot his firearm multiple times at the driver.
  • The driver and two other occupants in the car, aged 12 and 13 years old, fled in the car. The car was abandoned at Floyd Street and Donlands Avenue, and the driver was apprehended a short distance away. EMS took the boy to hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
  • The officer was treated and released from hospital.
Five investigators, three forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist have been assigned to the case.
