SIU Concludes Investigation into Kingston Collision Between Civilian Vehicle and Police Cruiser

Case Number: 26-OVI-302

Mississauga, ON (26 October, 2026) ---
In the morning of June 27, 2026, a civilian vehicle and police cruiser became involved in a collision in the intersection of Brock Street and Victoria Street. About a minute prior to the collision, a priority call had been dispatched involving a vehicle that had reportedly gone over a cliff and was submerged in water. The officer was en route to that call when he entered the intersection at speed without stopping for a red light and struck the civilian vehicle. The emergency lights and sirens were activated for some time prior to and while entering the intersection. The 71-year-old female driver of the civilian vehicle suffered a fractured sternum in the collision, and her passenger was diagnosed with two hematomas in the abdomen. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the collision and injury.
