Mississauga, ON (2 September, 2025) ---
The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 41-year-old man last night in Mississauga.

Preliminary information suggests the following:
  • Shortly after 8 p.m. on September 1, 2025, Peel Regional Police officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the area of Lakeshore Road West and Maple Avenue South to investigate a dispute.
  • Upon arriving at the building, officers on the ground observed a man standing on a balcony. The man said he wanted to jump.
  • Officers attempted to enter the man’s apartment unit, but this was to no avail. An officer then made his way to the balcony of another nearby apartment unit and attempted to communicate with the man.
  • A short time later, the man fell from the balcony to the ground below. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.

The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php
