In the early morning hours of December 31, 2019, a 47-year-old man was arrested by several Ottawa Police Service officers, reportedly suffering a broken humerus in the process. The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Joseph Martino, has determined there are no reasonable grounds to believe that an officer who was involved in the arrest committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s arrest and injury.
