SIU Concludes Investigation into Lindsay Collision Following Police Pursuit

Case Number: 26-OVI-185

Mississauga, ON (13 August, 2026) ---
In the early morning of April 19, 2026, Kawartha Lakes Police Service officers were dispatched to investigate a 911 call in which a woman was heard pleading with the driver of a vehicle to let her out. At the scene, an officer came across a BMW. Aware of the police cruiser, the BMW driver accelerated away. Shortly after, the female 911 caller exited the vehicle. The officer continued to pursue the BMW. In the area of Victoria Avenue South and Glenelg Street West, the BMW driver lost control and collided with several vehicles. The 20-year-old male BMW driver and his 32-year-old female passenger were extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. On his assessment of the evidence, SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the officer committed a criminal offence in connection with the collision.
